Hello to all the MLP-First-Generation members and watchers! :la:

This group is now over a year 'old' and this is the very first blog entry :ashamed:

With 100+ watchers and members we thought it might be fun to start up some events to bring in more art of lovely ponies. Would anyone be interested in doing a challenge? They are a great way to get inspiration, and it's fun to see all the different things people think of :D

We have made a folder in Favourites where you can submit G1-related stamps! The reason we don't have them in the Gallery is because they're mostly screenshots and other official art so it clashes with the rules, but stamps are fun so we wanted a place for them :) However if you have made a stamp that isn't using official art, you can of course submit it to the Gallery (and also the stamps folder in Favourites).

The rules for the stamps-folder is: All stamps with something G1-related are welcome. It's OK to submit a stamp with the other generations too, as long as G1 is among them :)

There are some crazy pony collectors below this text! :iconteheplz:

Group information

In short: This is a group for My little pony, the first generation! This means only art of actual G1 Hasbro designs in G1 art style, similar to the G1 style, or your own style! :woohoo:

Custom creation variations of G1 designs are allowed, examples are making a baby to an adult that did not have a baby or changing a pegasus into a flutterpony. As long as the character or design is recognizable.

And to clarify the short: Other generations, original characters or style of FiM (or very similar, or other generations) do not belong in this group, because there is already more than 100 other groups for those :)

Check out our "Affiliates box" for some amazing examples of what you might need :)

The My Little Pony "generations" refer to the different MLP toy lines produced by Hasbro, as classified by collectors. G1 is the first generation and were sold in the 1980s and 1990s.

We like FiM a lot, but we love the G1 ponies and there just isn't enough groups for them

:bulletpurple: :bulletpurple: :bulletpurple: RULES: :bulletpurple: :bulletpurple: :bulletpurple:

:bulletblue: Only fanart of G1 ponies.
:bulletblack: The art should be in G1 style or your own style. Not FiM or too similar to FiM :)
:bulletblack: No multiple uploads of similar pieces.
:bulletblack: The submission limit is one per day.

:bulletblack: Customs made on G1 molds only. Only remakes of existing G1 ponies.
:bulletblack: Photos of two kinds can be submitted to this group. Funny photographs and "artistic" photographs.
:bulletblack: Crossovers and groupshots with mixed generations and/or OC's and personas are welcome as long as there's G1 ponies clearly visible in the picture, and the non-G1's don't take over the picture. After all, this is a G1 group :) We will decide on a case-by-case basis.
:bulletblack: Do not submit ponies made with Pony Creators or by using a Base. No screenshots, recolours and avoid tracing. Only ponies you have drawn yourself.
You may use official art as inspiration for poses but make sure to not copy the original picture. If we recognize your picture as being completely copied from a screenshot/comic/etc, it will be declined.
If you draw a picture while looking at a screenshot and make it better by adding shadows, shine, background, etc. it's more likely to be approved for this group.

:bulletpurple: :bulletpurple: :bulletpurple: FOLDERS: :bulletpurple: :bulletpurple: :bulletpurple:

:bulletgreen: Featured - Do not upload here.
:bulletgreen: Pony Artwork - General G1 art. Everything that doesn't fit into the other folders.
:bulletgreen: Humor and Parodies - Funny stuff goes here :3
:bulletgreen: Artisan Crafts, Sculptures, Clay and Customs - G1 ponies made from clay, wood, fabric, etc. Sculptures, plushies and custom ponies for example.
:bulletgreen: Humanized Ponies - Ponies as humans. Prefered to be more human than horse. For this group - keep the face/head and the hands human :)
:bulletgreen: Artistic Photographs - Very "artistic" photos of store bought G1 ponies in fine condition should be submitted here. Look in the folder for examples =)

If your art doesn't follow the rules we will decline without giving a reason, so if you want to know why your art got declined, please go read the rules again. If you still have no idea, send a PM to the group and ask us politely and we'll point you to the right rule :)

Remember that "do not qualify for this group" doesn't mean that your art isn't good enough as art, it means it doesn't meet the requirements and specialization of the group.
If the administrator(s) of the group decline a piece of art in what you see as an unfair judgment, a motivation to why you find that it was unjustly declined is welcome ^^
Administrator(s) can be wrong.
A good group should strive not only to please those who want to show their art, but also those who want to watch.

We expect you all to be intelligent people and that you all possess the talent of reasoning with common sense :huggle:

Since so many people are starting to find their own style by building on the FiM style, it's become harder and harder for us to decide what we think is too close to the FiM style, and what can be considered the artist's own style. Therefore we will now only allow images that we can easily tell isn't FiM :) If it's too closely inspired by FiM, it won't be approved for this group, sorry ^^;

Our gallery, BronyHouse is a non-profit organization to help artist exposure. We are seeking out older generation artists due to a few conventions we are going to this year that are focused on the type. I thought I would message here to see if anyone in the group had any interest. I am not here to spam, only to help artists. If you have any questions you are all welcome to message us at or on our site where there is a faq section so you know our legitimacy.
I think you guys are awesome btw :)

Why did you let my crossover fan art showing Lemon Drop expire?
Solkatt Featured By Owner Aug 12, 2014  Hobbyist Digital Artist
Sorry, I suspect it was among the pictures the admins needed to discuss and it timed out. (happened a lot this summer, I hope we will get better)

Can a piece showing a G2 pony with G1 critters be entered into this group?
Solkatt Featured By Owner May 14, 2014  Hobbyist Digital Artist
It depends on if the critters take up more space in the image then the pony/ponies. :)

Referring to rule: Crossovers and groupshots with mixed generations and/or OC's and personas are welcome as long as there's G1 ponies clearly visible in the picture, and the non-G1's don't take over the picture.

We include the G1- pony friends in this rule. :)

Hope that helps :)

The G1 critters are here and there all over the G2 pony.
